Barack Obama Is Not Responsible
57What a wonderful time in American history. Barack Obama is the first black man to enter the white house as president of the United States; it is truly a great day, and for me it shows a maturing of the American people.
Please do not think I am being condescending for saying this, that is not my intention, but I feel as a people you have done something that many others in the western world could take note of. You have as a people grown past the idea that a person's color or appearance defines whom they are and what they are capable of. This is definitely a new day.
But I want to get up in your face a little and perhaps rain on your parade somewhat. In the months that have passed since the "great race" began and African American people were starting to realize that their dream of seeing a black president could become a reality, I have watched Obama' popularity soar to heights that at times were almost God like in the eyes of some and although I truly understand the enthusiasm I would like to issue a few sobering words...Barack Obama is just a man.
He has been elevated to amazing heights during his campaign and now he has been selected to take up one of the most prestigious positions of power in the world but...Barack Obama is just a man.
He squashed the challenge of Hilary Clinton, he won votes in states where he was not expected to and he secured a victory that many thought just a few months back, could never happen and yet still...Barak Obama is just a man.
So what does this mean for the African American community?
Actually it means the same as it does for all Americans and that is... due to the fact that President Obama is still just a man, he is going to do some things right and he is going to do some things wrong. The president is going to bask in the glory of great success, but he is also going to be burdened with some monumental failures. What I would like to say is this, do not expect Barack Obama to save you, he cannot be the great hope of the black community, why? Because Barack Obama is and will always be, just a man.
Please do not feel that I am belittling President Obama or anyone else for that matter that is not my intention; I merely want to bring a different aspect to your attention. If you feel the need to put all of your trust and your faith in Obama I would encourage you to think again and know that to trust wholly and solely in "man" is to display a level of foolhardiness that can only lead to disappointment and confusion.
Instead I encourage you to look within yourself for what you need, do not make Barack Obama "responsible" for your future happiness and success, these things can only come from within. Look to your higher self, look to your guardian angels and look to God for all that you want, then and only then will you see the "change" that you wish to see in yourself, your country and the rest of the world, for it cannot be done by one single man.
As human being occupying physical bodies in the universe in what Wayne Dyer calls the "now-here," it is us that must change if we want to see change in the world. We are each responsible and in charge of our own life. We are free to create a world of yet unheard of joy, love and prosperity, we do not need presidents, prime ministers and senators to do this for us. Each and every one of us has the divine power to change our world.
So please, give Barack Obama a break, do not expect him give you everything you need, do not expect him to make your life perfect for you and do not hold him responsible for what happens in your life.
Know and understand that your have the creative power within you to make your own life perfect, all you have to do is be willing to take responsibility for it.
